Hi all,

Given the warm support for the idea of relaunching B&Q in Warhammer, I would now like to publish the initial guild structure:

http://www.immune-systems.co.uk/guild_structure.png

The idea here is to let everyone see what officer roles are available and what responsibilities those roles will carry. I have been careful to divide the workload so that each officer role will require only an hour or two of effort each week - we are all "old enough to know better" and I doubt that any of us wants to be a slave for a guild in a game!

Each of these roles will have targets set for them and progress towards those targets will be tracked (e.g. the recruitment officer will be asked to recruit 10 new member per week for the next 6 weeks, or something similar). Each officer will have full authority to recruit junior officers to assist them in achieving their task (e.g. the communications officer could have a junior officer for each major Warhammer forum). This structure would allow B&Q to be a living, vibrant, active force. Note that I don't think its vital for all roles to be filled before launch, but I'd like most of them to be filled by old members already here.

What I would like to know now is: who is willing to take on one of these roles? Either post in this thread or send me a private message. If there isn't enough interest to make this structure work, we'll just have to accept that B&Q in Warhammer will be a temporary guild that lets us all chat and play together until we find a new, actively managed home!

Officer volunteers, please take one step forwards!

(Apologies for the low quality image - if it's illegible, let me know and I'll post a higher res version!)

Bit of a contradiction in terms there Baz, ditch the target thing.

Imo just take it as it comes. The guild will be small to start off with and seems to be more for the casual "old enough to know better" gamer, so if the guild takes off like BnQ did go with what you have there.... hell its not so different to what I had made in Death Jesters, and will work well.

For now I would go with a GM and 2 officers for the minute to spread the load and see what happens.

Just my 2 copper...

It's a bit soon don't you think baz? No idea how much time people will be able to spend on the game and in the beginning it will be spend on getting to know the game inside outside and just having pure fun with eachother.

Start small and then grow when we have some 40's.

But I like the structure and appreciate the time you put into it.

First few weeks for me are all about having fun, learning the tricks, experience the full warhammer world ( who wants to roleplay with me? :fluffle:) . Afterwards I'm willing to put myself candidate for one of the roles ( XP officer or quest/raids officer maybe, I liked putting together those caer sidi raids :) )

Cheers
CorD.

Nice idea i tend to agree with some of the others keep a nice small guild aka those member on this site and any other u may have know from previous games ect... i have a few from wow commin to warhammer.
Anyhow 10/10 for effort but when that structure needs to take shape is when we are geared for bigger and better things and 40's:)

Absolutely agree with the comments that this is not required for the initial weeks of play. I have no plans to do anything other than explore the game with you guys for a while!

I would, however, like to know if we plan to run an active guild or not. If we do not plan to run an active guild, that's fine by me - I can put my efforts into making sure that when the time comes, we have a friendly, active guild that will welcome us all joining en masse. If we do plan to run an active guild, we need to give a little thought to how we plan to make it a success. The structure detailed above will, with a very small amount of effort from 6 or 7 people, allow the guild to be successful.

Afterwards I'm willing to put myself candidate for one of the roles
Thanks Bjorn. That's one more small step towards making B&Q a living guild again! :)

ditch the target thing
The targets will definitely not be difficult, time consuming or unrealistic. Each officer needs to be able to say how they will measure "success" - without a goal to achieve (however small it might be) there's no impetus to push the guild forwards. I stand by my "none of us want to be a slave" comment - if the idea of targets gave an impression of too much commitment, I apologise. I wouldn't want anyone to think that B&Q was too much effort.

For now I would go with a GM and 2 officers for the minute to spread the load and see what happens
Very sensible advice, particularly for the early days. The only role that I think is important for the first few weeks is recruitment. However, if we approach recruitment as a shared responsibility (i.e. everyone tries to invite nice people that they group with or meet into the guild) that's probably enough in the early days. Your opinions are most welcome.

I hope you'll get them invited to the guild! ;)

Thanks for the constructive feedback so far, guys. All other thoughts are very welcome!

ha, I already started recruiting, probably 2 friends from work will join us if that's ok :)

I'm certainly PRO being an active guild.

@Baha : you say that now, but you'll probably have 5 lvl 40's before we have our first ;)
