Thursday nights...

...are game nights!

I've been chatting with Matt (Polemides) about the possibility of getting one night a week to reconnect with each other, kick back and play some games.

I've suggested Thursday evenings, starting next Thursday (23rd August). I can be available this Thursday (tomorrow - the 16th), but don't really expect anyone to be available at such short notice.

The plan is to rotate a few games (Q3, Command & Conquer, Heroes of Might and Magic, etc) and catch up on some friendly chat.

Anyone else interested in participating?

You mean LAN or via internet?
If you mean internet, then I`m OF COURSE interested! :D Just need to let me know what we´re going to play, so I can install the crap. Also, we´d need an IRC channel.

If you´re interested, you can always come and visit our Enemy Territory server (the free ET, not the upcoming one). I can ginve you IPs etc. Just download the game and install it. Very RTCW-ish and you´ll always find me on one of the servers.

I've been emailing back and forth with Matt and the plan is to be on Quakenet in #mattandbaz from around 8pm (UK time) on Thursday. Apologies for the shameless self-promotion in the channel title and also for the relatively late start time - we weren't really expecting other participants so soon!

At the moment, we don't really have any firm plans for specific games (it may be that tomorrow evening is spent in IRC installing games for next week!) although I'm pretty sure it would be wise to get Q3 installed (whatever the most up-to-date point release is). I am also very keen on some C&C:Red Alert. There's also the option of rolling in a new MMORPG (we've been discussing WoW, although we'd need to shelve that idea if you got involved, Ralph :D). I'm sure Matt will be happy to post about the Diablo-clone that is Dungeon Runners. And talking of dungeons, wouldn't it be kinda fun to get some multi-player Dungeon Keeper going?

So... #mattandbaz tomorrow evening at 8pm UK time! First item on the agenda will be what we should use as an IRC channel in the future! ;)

OK I'll see if I can pick up a copy of Q3 (never played it :) ).... I can always reopen my WOW account but you have to remember it's not a casual game ;)

Surely it's a casual game if you treat it as one? I can't imagine we'd get more than a few levels into the thing before we have access to WAR beta, anyhow.

It's also not certain that we'll play WoW. If it seems too dull, we'll just swap to something else (I'm quite keen on getting some of the latest Command&Conquer games up and running - 4 or 5 player games there could be lots of fun!).

Anyhow, I did as Matt told me and updated WoW to the current version. Just as well, since it was a 600MB download! So I have a working version, although I didn't actually pay to reopen my account (I hope that's not a problem - how quickly will payment activate on my account?). Matt has also gave me the option of rogue or shaman - I opted for the shaman (opinions on whether I've made a mistake? I just want a character that will be maximum fun for the next 20 or so levels). Oh, it also looks like my default server is "Shattered Halls". I'm sure I can change that, but I haven't bothered to check how. UPDATE: I'm advised that we should join the Lightbringer server, as we have some friendly high levels on there ;)

I've also downloaded and installed mIRC. /join #mattandbaz around 8pm this evening (I also peeked into #teamfear - it's a vacant channel again! A few years back, there was a dutch CS clan hanging out in there after we moved on, but I guess they have disbanded).

So, I'm all ready to roll this evening - hope to get something sorted out! :D
