OK - let's see what we can arrange for tomorrow evening (Thursday).

Meeting place: #bnq on Quakenet

Meeting time: 8pm (UK time)

Proposed activity: Fumbling our way through Starcraft!

Alternative activity: Getting Q3's Rocket Arena up and running

Alternative-alternative activity: WoW

Note that we haven't had Ralph set up Q3/RA servers, yet. However, I have discovered that my ISP (Virgin) quietly upgraded my top-tier connection from 10MB to 20MB two months ago (apparently they called and told Jen, but she forgot to mention this to me!). I also have an upstream connection of 768kb. Basically, this is a good enough connection to host a Q3 server with 24 people on it! We'll get something sorted out, for sure.

Hope to see you there... And try to drag in some friends, too!

I don't think I'm going to go back to WOW, been there done that I don't really want to start from scratch again.

I'll see if I can pick up SC and Q3 later today and get them set up tonight? Any links for getting the mods anywhere?

I also think we need a group blog space so we can rant about games in a collaborative manner ;)

Ok I managed to find neither q3 or starcraft. i will start trawling teh internet for them this evening. I have a conf call at 7pm so I might be a bit late for games, I'll log on later and see if your in IRC.

Well I was online, a bit late. I also noticed someone called Dave on.... but there was no Barry ?

As you know, I showed up a wee bit late (like 10pm!) as my sister-in-law just announced her engagement. So we had some short-notice celebrating to do. :)

This is also partly the reason why I think it's so important for us to expand our numbers and have a solid roster of games installed. We were only missing 2 people last night (3 if you include me for the first hour or two), but with such small numbers of participants atm, that was a hefty chunk of the player base!

Let's get the issue of games solved, too. I think Dave's offer of some FTP space for us to swap a few ISOs is a good idea (I'm particularly thinking of Starcraft - which seems to be so old that you can't actually buy it in shops any more!).

So - keep seeking recruits (I think I may have found another one for us) and keep trying to grab the games we've decided on. I'll encourage Dave to visit here and maybe let us all know where we can upload/download once he has it arranged.

Shouldn't be any issues next week! ;)
